Overview

Today's metering systems are usually equipped with several duty meters and at least one master meter. The master meter is used for automatic periodic verification of the duty meters. To verify the master meter itself, a ball prover or small volume prover can be used, or the meter can be returned to a calibration facility, or a mobile prover can be applied to the master meter.

Mobile master metering is a cost effective solution that allows verification of a flowmeter over several hours, rather than the short period - sometimes only seconds - that is achieved with a small volume prover. The mobile master meter unit can be used on several separate metering locations. At pre-set intervals the mobile master meter can have its own calibration verified simply by driving the mobile prover to a local calibration facility, or to a stationary ball prover.

Over recent years KROHNE has supplied multiple mobile master metering solutions, varying from small diameter Coriolis based trailers up to 12" ultrasonic based systems on a full size truck. KROHNE metrology specialists, in combination with engineers from the local sales office, organise all necessary custody transfer approvals and operator training.
